Experience and Professional Experience
I am a Double Gator, and most recently completed my Master’s and Specialist degrees in Mental Health Counseling at the University of Florida. Through my clinical experience at community and private practice settings I have been able to learn from and work with diverse clinicians and clients. Through this I have gained expertise in helping clients with anxiety, phobias and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD. I have specialized training in Exposure and Response Prevention therapy, an especially effective treatment for OCD. Given my background in Occupational Therapy, I’m passionate about the mind-body connection and am committed to helping clients find safety in their bodies and process trauma. As a member of the queer community, I advocate for LGBTQ+ issues and am passionate about being a resource to clients with diverse and intersectional identities, including being kink and ethical nonmonogamy informed and affirming.
In our sessions, I create an authentic and collaborative environment, where I serve as an informed passenger or guide on the client’s therapeutic journey. Leading with my warm, empathetic, and goofy nature I empower clients to embody their unique voice. My primary clinical approaches are person-centered and narrative with the addition of tools from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), attachment, and somatic practices.
Approaches to Wellness
Being a highly sensitive person, wellness is essential to my functioning and something I incorporate in all aspects of my life. For me this is most highlighted in fostering strong and healthy connections, engaging in my passions, and investing in my physical and spiritual being. My wellness is amplified in connection with nature, and I can often be found on trails or in the springs. Authentic immersion is central to my wellbeing, and I have long been connected to Dungeons and Dragons, tabletop and video games, weightlifting, needle crafting and the communities that come along with them. By engaging in these diverse interests, I find myself to be the most grounded and invigorated version of myself.
