Education and Professional Experience
I am originally from Arkansas and ecstatic to be a new Floridian! I completed my graduate training at the University of Central Arkansas where I earned a Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling and a Doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology. During my time in graduate school, I gained experience in a wide range of settings, both inpatient and outpatient, such as university counseling centers and domestic abuse treatment centers. I also was able to work with a diverse set of clients, varying in age, cultural background, and counseling goals. While completing my doctoral internship at the University of North Florida Counseling Center I facilitated art therapy and general process groups to help clients better understand themselves and others. I am a member of the American Psychological Association and the American Group Psychotherapy Association. I specialize in working with college students, adults, and couples who are facing difficulties with the anxieties that come with sexuality and identity exploration.
Your time in therapy is just for you! I am here to support you through the process of growth and collaborate with you on finding the best way for you to cultivate a happy and healthy life. I utilize a Person-Centered therapeutic approach that allows for you to guide the direction of our sessions together. I am devoted to creating a comfortable environment in which we can discuss and practice new ways to cope and think. Your individualized experience is important to me, and I am cognizant of different factors that may make up your sense of self, including race, ethnicity, spirituality, gender, and sexual orientation. I would be honored to work with you and help you feel more empowered in YOU!
Approach to Wellness
This life has so much to offer and I make it my personal mission to cultivate a sense of wellness and delight in my day-to-day experience. For me, this means being intentional about how I approach both my work and personal life. Dedicating time for friends and family, movement, and gratitude is vital to my self-care. I enjoy staying active through activities such as weight lifting, yoga, and leisurely strolls with my rescue pup, Bambi. I enjoy beating my friends at card/board games, eating copious amounts of sushi, and sporting one of my many pairs of Minnie Mouse ears in any and every Disney park.
