Education and Professional Experience

I have dedicated myself and my career to making a positive impact for clients that have experienced trauma, anxiety, depression and relationship issues. My professional background ranges from couples, family, individual and group therapy; all with a focus on evidence-based therapy that promotes healing, education, and lasting change. I received a Masters degree of Social Work from the University of Alabama and continued my education with Michigan State University, earning a Master of Science degree in Management, Strategy and Leadership. Coupled with my formal academic education, I have intensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – a therapy designed to assist clients reach positive mental health outcomes through understanding negative thought patterns – and continue to pursue Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a psychotherapy treatment designed to assist in healing of various symptoms associated with traumatic life experiences. Some of my proudest professional achievements come from my work with veterans and their families in helping them to reintegrate back into society and improve their relationships. Also, in being a part of a treatment team where we created a trauma-informed treatment curriculum which provided evidence-based and effective treatment in an intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization setting.

Approach to Wellness

My wellness is centered on connection and balance—connection to my family, nature, meaningful work, and the balance between each. I find peace in the exploring seasonal changes in nature and remaining in contact with those that refresh my perspective. I continue to look for inspiration in education and find positivity and motivation in my life through a variety of activities shared with those I hold close, including my dog. Self-care can look different to everyone. For me, it is spending time with my family, being in nature, interacting with my dog, attending various sporting events, or even attending a punk rock concert.
