Professional and Educational Experience

I was born and raised in South Florida and have called Gainesville home since 2021 when I moved here to pursue my graduate studies and clinical training. I earned my Master’s and Education Specialist degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Florida. I’ve provided counseling in a variety of settings such as school-based environments and psychiatric clinics, working with adolescents, adults, and their families.

My clinical experience includes supporting clients from a wide age range with anxiety, trauma, life transitions, body image concerns, and self-esteem issues. I’ve facilitated mindfulness-based groups, helped people manage academic and social stressors, and supported individuals in reclaiming their voice after difficult or disempowering life experiences.

Approach to Counseling

I approach each session with curiosity, care, and a deep respect for the client and the stories they carry. I consider myself a lifelong learner, always deepening my understanding of both clinical tools and human experience. I take a collaborative, strength-based approach, integrating elements of narrative therapy, person-centered therapy, mindfulness practices, and trauma-informed care. I also draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) when helpful.

Above all, I believe therapy is a space for clients to feel fully seen and understood, gently challenged, and deeply supported as they explore their own paths forward.

Approach to Wellness

To me, wellness isn’t about “having it all figured out.” It’s about learning to sit with the uncertainties, showing up for yourself with compassion, and continuing to move toward what matters most. I believe we all have an inner wisdom that guides us, even when life feels unclear or overwhelming. In therapy, I help clients reconnect with that wisdom by creating space for reflection, insight, and self-trust.

Outside of the therapy room, I find my own grounding in creative expression, self-care rituals, and time with the people (and pets!) that I love. I enjoy traveling, kayaking, discovering new music, and watching reality TV shows with my partner. I’m also a proud cat parent to two extremely spoiled felines.

I try to bring that same sense of calm, care, and curiosity from my personal life into my work with clients, because I believe that healing doesn’t have to be rushed or forced but can unfold gently, and at your own pace.

Amber’s sessions are not eligible for out-of-network insurance reimbursement. She is supervised by Dr. Nick Comeau, Licensed Psychologist.
