Reviews

Kate Bowser was an amazing advocate for my daughter. My daughter came to her to learn some coping skills and ways to identify and express her emotions. Kate gave her a well stocked “tool kit” to pull from when she was feeling down or had a strong emotion. Kate has a wonderful way of speaking to her on an appropriate level and helping my kiddo understand…Kate always kept me well informed on what they were working on without compromising my daughter’s privacy and trust. The time with Kate was invaluable and I’m so grateful.

Education and Professional Experience

I earned a Master of Education in School Counseling from The College of William & Mary and am currently pursuing my Doctorate in Educational Leadership & Policy at the University of Florida.

I have a strong background in supporting the holistic development and well-being of young people. I provide intervention and counseling to children, adolescents, and adults, addressing developmental and social-emotional needs. This includes supporting clients in navigating challenges, promoting their success, and helping them develop coping strategies. I also counsel caregivers, offering guidance on individualized support plans and early childhood educational accommodations. My experience also encompasses designing and facilitating mentoring programs for at-risk high school students, focusing on academic and social-emotional development and student goal attainment.

Approach to Counseling

I help individuals and families, ages 5 and older. My approach to wellness is rooted in the belief that everyone deserves a supportive environment to thrive, regardless of age or identity. I understand that childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood can be incredibly complex times, filled with significant transitions, self-discovery, and sometimes, overwhelming pressures. Perhaps your child is struggling with worries that keep them from enjoying school or friendships, or maybe they’re having big feelings that are hard for them (and you!) to manage. You might be feeling lost in your identity, struggling with ADHD or anxiety as you navigate college or career life, or finding it hard to connect with others in meaningful ways. You might be questioning your relationships, battling with self-doubt, experienced a recent loss, or simply be feeling stuck.

I utilize a blend of therapeutic approaches, including Relational-Cultural Theory, Choice Theory, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), to create a space where you feel truly seen and understood. My practice is gender and identity affirming, recognizing and celebrating the unique experiences and perspectives of each individual. We’ll explore how your relationships impact your well-being, focusing on building strong, authentic connections. We’ll also work on understanding your choices and how they align with your values, while developing skills to accept difficult thoughts and feelings without letting them control you. My goal is to empower you to navigate challenges, embrace your authentic self, and live a life that feels meaningful and fulfilling.

Approach to Wellness

For me, wellness is about finding balance and purpose in the everyday. I prioritize spending time in nature, whether it’s through walks in local parks or simply enjoying the sunshine. Connection is also vital; I seek out deep and authentic conversations with loved ones and look for opportunities to express myself through creativity. Finally, movement, even something as simple as dancing to my favorite music, or walking my dog, helps me release tension and reconnect with my body.
