Education and Professional Experience
Before moving to Gainesville in 2024, I lived in Tempe, Arizona my whole life! I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Barrett, The Honors College at Arizona State University. For my honor’s thesis, I created a children’s book that serves as a guide for children to learn, understand, and regulate their emotions. I continued my education at Arizona State University to earn my Master of Counseling degree. During my master’s degree, I also participated in conducting research for the Career WISE project, a resource that is meant to support graduate women in STEM fields, and co-authored an encyclopedia entry into the Encyclopedia of Sexual Psychology and Behavior. I completed my clinical internship at ASU Counseling Services, where I had the opportunity to help undergraduate and graduate students navigate general mental health concerns and co-facilitate a grief and loss therapy group. After graduation, I have worked in private practice settings to support teens, adults, and couples navigate challenges that they faced in life.
Approach to Counseling
Asking for help can be a very scary act to do, and I understand that discussing your deeply personal concerns with a stranger can be even more of a daunting experience. That said, I recognize how courageous this first step can be and how trust is earned throughout the therapeutic process. As your counselor, I will meet you where you are at, yet gently challenge you to work towards your goals as we go through this process together. Furthermore, as I get to know you and work with you, I will pull from various therapeutic modalities to guide my treatment interventions and approaches. I believe that one therapeutic modality is not a one-size-fits-all, and individuals have their own unique needs for counseling. The most common modalities I pull from are Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Multicultural and Feminist Therapies and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT).
Approach to Wellness
I strive for balance in my everyday life, whether that’s socially, in work, my health, or whatever domains there are. However, I recognize and accept that not every aspect of my life will be perfectly balanced all the time, and that is okay! To bring balance into my life, I practice mindfulness and the art of “letting go,” both of which are easier said than done. I also participate in activities that I know bring me joy, such as swimming, Pilates, spending time outdoors, or cooking a new recipe. Hannah’s sessions are not eligible for out-of-network insurance reimbursement. She is supervised by Dr. Nick Comeau, Licensed Psychologist.
