Professional and Educational Experience
My name is Ziddia, but everyone calls me “Z.” I was born and raised in Bolivia, South America, where I developed a passion for the field of social sciences.
I enrolled at the University of San Francisco Xavier of Chuquisaca, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Sociology and a Master’s degree in Law.
After moving to the United States, I began my career change by working at a domestic abuse shelter. I quickly found myself drawn to a new path and enjoy teaching others coping skills to navigate through those difficult times.
This experience led me to consider how I could assist those in need with mental health support—something everyone requires at some point in their lives.
To pursue this path, I earned a Master of Science in Psychology, specializing in Clinical and Counseling Psychology from Capella University. I have had the privilege of working with individuals between the ages of 4 and 65. My journey in mental health started in California, where I provided bilingual support to those navigating the profound pain of loss. I understand the complexity of grief, and I’ve dedicated myself to teaching coping skills that empower individuals to connect with their emotions and thoughts. It’s deeply rewarding to help others find a path through their grief, free from guilt or resistance, as they work toward healing.
I continued to provide individual and group counseling for children and adults who were survivors of violence and sexual assault. As a certified California State Sexual Assault Counselor (SAC), I supported survivors during forensic legal interviews and medical exams and assisted them through law enforcement and court-related processes. This extensive experience has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to effectively support individuals in their mental health journeys.
After moving to Gainesville, I recognized the need for mental health therapy, particularly for those who lack transportation. I worked in home-based counseling for individuals and families, assisting those struggling with domestic violence, neglect, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder. I also focused on adolescent behavior therapy and conducted individual and group counseling for female youths aged 12 to 18 years old.
Approach to Counseling
I approach therapy with a deep sense of empathy, prioritizing your unique story and experiences. By actively listening to you, I can incorporate methods like Sensory Motor Psychotherapy to help you understand the connections between your physical sensations and past traumas. Together, we’ll explore feelings of shame, doubt, and guilt, working to build your self-confidence and independence. I’m here to support you in learning to recognize and transform the emotions that may feel overwhelming. Counseling is an effective way to help those who cannot help themselves, especially when confronted with complex life challenges.
In addition to Sensory Motor Psychotherapy, I also use other modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and client-centered therapy as the primary focus of individual sessions. These approaches have proven successful in reducing self-harm, suicidal thoughts, harm to others, and problematic behaviors associated with conditions like Conduct Disorder (CD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), and Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder (DMDD).
Group counseling is another practical component of my practice. It helps young people reduce recidivism and aggression by teaching social skills that allow them to develop and practice positive interactions with peers, family, and authority figures. Participating in group sessions (at any age) enhances problem-solving skills, enabling group members to identify issues and find positive solutions without resorting to substances, anger, or hostility.

Approach to Wellness
My approach to wellness focuses on what we can control and letting go of what we cannot—reflecting Stoicism. This mindset reduces stress and allows me to enjoy family and social activities. I love creating art, cooking, gardening, walking barefoot, and traveling. Meditation with the Universe brings me peace and presence. Most importantly, I aim to guide others toward positive life changes and mental well-being.
